Here come the Jitters!

Two weeks from right now, if you're looking for me, I should be somewhere on 135 in Natick!

As the marathon draws near, and my mileage tapers down, I'm finding myself with too much time to think about the race. As with all things in my life, when I have too much time to think is when I start to have problems. Am I ready? I think so, but my last two long runs haven't left me feeling very confident.

This week I took thursday, friday and saturday off, which is very unlike me. On thursday I decided to skip my run. I figured that since I wasn't planning on doing my long run until sunday, I could run a short run on friday which is normally my day off. What I forgot though, was that Kate was going out to dinner with some friends on friday and would be anxiously waiting for me to get home from my shoot so she could drive up to Nashua. So no run thursday or friday.

On saturday, my running club had it's annual race, the Boston Tune Up 15k.
Instead of running this one I decided to volunteer at the race. It was actually pretty fun. I worked a water stop with Hiroshi and Dan. I entertained brief thoughts of doing a short easy run saturday afternoon, but decided that there was nothing to gain.

So on Sunday I did my long run for the week with the Soup Group.
A couple of the guys were planning 11, Dan's plan called for 12, and Hiroshi and I were looking for 15. I was a beautiful course winding through medway and I believe touching parts of hopkinton. The only problem was that it was really windy! I ended up doing 15.25 miles, but it felt as tough as any of the 20+ milers that I've done yet!

The powers that be just don't want me to feel ready for this race! I really thought that after three days off, and a shorter distance of 15 miles, I would feel awesome and confident afterwards. Nope. I spent most of the day yesterday with sore legs muscles, knees and ankles. WTF!!

Too much thinking!

14 Days till Boston....
